With nearly a decade of legal experience and a lifelong background in the cattle industry, I understand the unique challenges agricultural professionals face in a way few attorneys do. I was raised in Montana, where my family operated a bovine embryo transfer business, and the line between life and work was often indistinguishable. I grew up in working pens and show barns—helping out in my family’s clinic, hauling to jackpots and rodeos, and serving as a state FFA officer. These experiences shaped my work ethic and provided an insider’s perspective of the realities of doing business in the ag and equine industries, where deals are often made intuitively and informally. They also reinforced a hard truth: without clear, enforceable legal protections, even the best relationships can quickly unravel.

In 2012, I earned my degree in Agricultural Relations from Montana State University and went on to graduate from the University of Montana School of Law in 2016. Early in my career, I interned with the Livestock Marketing Association, where I gained firsthand insight into the legal challenges livestock markets and rural businesses face and worked on key industry policy issues. Later, I joined a respected firm in Bozeman, where my litigation and criminal law experience deepened my understanding of the legal system and reinforced my commitment to helping clients avoid the courtroom whenever possible.

In 2018, I relocated to Stephenville, Texas, and focused my practice on estate planning, real estate, and contract law for agricultural families and rural businesses. This shift brought together my legal experience and practical understanding of the nuanced dynamics that shape these communities. I know what’s at stake when families pass down land, keep multi-generational operations running smoothly, and translate handshake deals into well-written agreements. My goal is simple: to help clients protect what they’ve built and make clear, confident decisions for the future.

I founded Barstow Contract Co.® after seeing the same preventable legal problems time and again: handshake deals without documentation, disputes that could have been avoided, and good people left exposed by vague or absent contracts. Informal agreements are common practice in the ag and equine industries, but when things go sideways, good intentions alone aren’t enough. I recognized a clear gap between how these businesses operate and the legal tools they actually need. BCC was created to bridge that gap with contracts rooted in legal precision, real-world agricultural insight, and genuine respect for the people who make this work possible. These are more than templates; they’re practical tools to protect your income, clarify your business relationships, and preserve your legacy.

Meet Sierra Barstow, J.D.

Our Mission:

At Barstow Contract Co.®, our mission is to equip equine and agricultural professionals with the legal tools they need to run their businesses with clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.

We believe a contract should be as strong and dependable as the people behind it—clear, enforceable, and built for the real world. That’s why every template we offer is attorney-drafted, industry-informed, and designed to help you protect your time, income, and legacy without compromising your voice or your values.

Our Core Values:

1. Clarity Over Confusion
We cut through the noise. Contracts should speak your language, not bury you in legal jargon. Every template is written with precision, purpose, and plain English, because protection shouldn't require translation.

2. Legal Strength Without Compromise
We don’t do watered-down templates. Every product is drafted by an experienced attorney and built to hold up in the real world—not just on paper, but in practice. We don’t cut corners, soften terms, or sell fluff. Ever.

3. Built for the Way You Actually Work
We know the terrain— sale barns, arenas, and ag operations. Our contracts are made for how you actually do business, not for how some corporate office thinks you should. They're practical, professional, and grounded in the grit of the industries we serve.

4. Power Favors the Prepared.
In this industry, hesitation costs money—and vague agreements cost more. The people who make smart, decisive moves are the ones who prepared for them. We build legal tools that give you that edge—so you can move fast, stand firm, and protect what you’ve built.Power doesn’t come from playing defense. It comes from being ready.

5. Protection That Respects What You’ve Built
We know how hard you've worked to build what you have. Your time, income, and reputation matter; and so does the legacy behind them. Our job is to help you protect all of it with tools that prevent disputes, preserve relationships, and keep your business running strong.

6. Empowered Ownership
You shouldn’t need a law degree—or a corporate budget—to protect your business. We believe high-quality legal tools should be accessible, understandable, and fully yours. Our contracts give you the confidence and control to run your operation on your terms.

“I’ve used Barstow Contract Co. for multiple equine-related contracts, including sale, lease, and training agreements, and I’ve been impressed with the quality and clarity of their documents. Each contract is thoughtfully written, easy to customize, and covers all of the essential legal protections needed in the horse industry. As someone who works in equine sales and training, having reliable, well-structured contracts gives me peace of mind and saves time. Barstow’s documents strike the right balance between being legally thorough and user-friendly, which is rare to find. I highly recommend them to anyone in the equine world looking for solid, dependable contracts.”

“Barstow Contract Co. has helped us out with a handful of contracts over the last year—everything from rentals to breeding rights and health guarantees on our animals. Thanks to them, we were able to get up and running way faster than we expected.

We had originally tried to pull something off the internet for rental agreements, but nothing felt quite right, and there was no explanation of what we were even looking at. With BCC, everything was spelled out from the start. We were so relieved to just finally have a solid contract we felt good about having clients sign.

Highly recommend for anyone who wants things done right the first time! It would have saved us hours of research to just go here right away.”

  • No. Purchasing a template does not create an attorney–client relationship. While every contract is drafted by a licensed Texas attorney and reviewed by legal professionals, these templates are DIY legal tools — not custom legal services. They’re designed to provide strong, practical protection without the cost of hiring an attorney for one-on-one drafting. We always recommend consulting a licensed attorney in your state for advice tailored to your specific circumstances.

  • Yes. Each template is fully editable and includes a user-friendly guide that walks you through every section. Key areas are clearly highlighted, with attorney-drafted notes and practical suggestions to help you tailor the language to fit your operation — no legal background required.

  • No. Due to the digital nature of our products, templates aren’t available for preview. However, each product listing includes a detailed description and a full list of included clauses, so you know exactly what you’re getting. If you have any specific questions before you buy, please reach out to us at hq@barstowcontracts.com — we’re happy to help.

  • All sales are final. Because our digital templates provide immediate access to proprietary contract language, they cannot be returned or refunded. Barstow Contract Co.® maintains a strict no-refund policy to protect the integrity and value of our work.

That said, we want you to feel confident using your template. If you have questions about how to complete or customize it, you’re always welcome to reach out anytime at hq@barstowcontracts.com.

  • Yes. When properly completed and signed, our templates are designed to provide reliable legal protection and hold up under U.S. contract law. That said, enforceability can depend on how the contract is used and the specific laws in your state. If you’re facing a complex situation or simply want added peace of mind, we always recommend having a local attorney review your final draft.

  • Yes. Your purchase grants you a license to use the template as many times as you like within your own business, for as many clients as you serve. However, you may not resell, share, or distribute the template itself to others.

  • No. Each purchase is licensed for use by the original purchaser only. Sharing, redistributing, or republishing our templates — whether with friends, clients, or colleagues — violates our licensing terms and intellectual property rights.

  • You can — but the risk of getting it wrong is often far greater than the cost of doing it right. Writing your own contract without legal training can leave critical gaps, vague terms, or enforceability issues that only show up when it’s too late. Barstow Contract Co.® templates are professionally drafted to help you reduce risk and protect your time, income, and reputation. They’re clear, industry-specific, and built to hold up in the real world and in court. It’s not just about having a contract — it’s about having the right one.

  • Yes. Barstow Contract Co.® templates are drafted under U.S. law but include many widely accepted provisions that make them a strong starting point for international use, especially for agriculture and equine-related agreements. If a fully custom contract isn’t feasible, these templates provide a practical, legally informed foundation. We strongly recommend that international customers have a local attorney or barrister review and adapt the final version. This adds an extra layer of protection and can significantly reduce legal fees by giving your lawyer a clear, professional framework to work from.

  • Each contract includes a “governing law” and “venue” clause that lets you choose which state’s laws will apply and where disputes will be resolved. This allows you to keep things local—even if your client isn’t.

  • No. Barstow Contract Co.® offers DIY legal templates for ag and equine professionals. If you need one-on-one legal advice or a fully custom contract, we recommend working with a licensed attorney in your state.
